A method for minimizing a particle size of a carrier for an adsorbent which is used for direct hemoperfusion, in which a sulfated polysaccharide and/or its salt having a limiting viscosity of 0.005 to 0.5 dl/g and a sulfur content of 5 to 22 % by weight is immobilized on a water-insoluble carrier in an amount of 0.02 to 200 mg per 1 ml of the carrier. According to this method, the particle size of the adsorbent used for direct hemoperfusion can be minimized without impairing flow of blood.
