Silicone-containing prepolymers containing ehtylenically unsaturated groups and latent UV-activated free radical generating moieties. This class of silicone-containing prepolymer is capable of being actinically crosslinked in the presence of one or more hydrophilic vinylic monomers to form a silicone hydrogel material with a hydrophilic surface without post curing surface treatment. The present invention is also related to silicone hydrogel contact lenses made from this class of silicone-containing pre-polymers and a vinylic monomer having a latent UV-activated free radical generating moiety.

L'invention concerne une nouvelle classe de prépolymères contenant de la silicone renfermant des groupes éthyléniquement insaturés et des fragments générant des radicaux libres activés par les UV latents. Cette classe de prépolymères contenant de la silicone est susceptible d'être actiniquement réticulée, en présence d'un ou plusieurs monomères vinyliques hydrophiles, pour constituer un matériau d'hydrogel de silicone présentant une surface hydrophile, sans traitement de surface post-durcissement. La présente invention concerne également des lentilles de contact d'hydrogel de silicone fabriquées à partir de cette classe de prépolymères contenant de la silicone et un monomère vinylique possédant un fragment générant des radicaux libres activés par les UV latent.
