The present invention provides a process for applying a diffusion coating to steel coin blanks. The process comprises the steps of (i) charging a metallising reactor with a plurality of coin blanks and a chromising compound comprising ferrochromium granules, an energiser and a refractive diluent, (ii) heating the chromising compound to generate a chromising vapour for deposition on to the coin blanks, and (iii) removing the coin blanks from the reactor. The reactor rotates at a rate of 0.5-50 rpm. A process for preparing coins is also disclosed.
La présente invention porte sur un procédé d~application d~un revêtement de diffusion sur des ébauches d~acier pour pièces de monnaie. Le procédé comprend les phases suivantes (i) chargement d~un réacteur de métallisation avec une pluralité d~ébauches pour pièces de monnaie et un composé de chromage comprenant des granulés de ferrochrome, un exciteur et un diluant de réfraction, (ii) chauffage du composé de chromage pour générer une vapeur de chromage pour déposition sur les ébauches pour pièces de monnaie, et (iii) enlèvement des ébauches pour pièces de monnaie à partir du réacteur. Le réacteur tourne à la vitesse de 0,5 à 50 t/mn. L~invention porte également sur un procédé d~élaboration de pièces de monnaie.
