2063269 9112844 PCTABS00007 A tracheal tube assembly has an inner cannula (2) with an inner surface (20, 30) of a flexible plastics such as PVC to which respiratory secretions cling. The outer surface of the cannula is of a material with a lower friction than the inner surface and may be a helical filament (21) or a continuous layer (31). The machine end of the inner cannula (2) projects beyond the outer tube (1) to form a flexible portion (22) which is terminated with a coupling (23).
