Nano- and micron sized metal oxide and mixed metal oxide particles are injected into a high temperature region wherein the temperature is between about 400~C and less than 2000~C, and collected as particles or as coatings wherein a particulate nature is substantially maintained. The particles are altered in at least one of phase, morphology, composition, and particle size distribution, and may achieve further changes in these characteristics by coinjection of metal oxide precursor in liquid form.

Des nanoparticules et des microparticules d'oxyde métallique et d'oxyde métallique mixte sont injectées dans une zone de haute température dans laquelle la température est comprise entre environ 400 ·C et moins de 2000 ·C environ, et recueillies sous forme de particules ou de revêtements dans lesquels la nature particulaire est sensiblement préservée. Les particules sont modifiées en au moins une des propriétés parmi la phase, la morphologie, la composition, et la granulométrie, et peuvent subir d'autres modifications dans ces caractéristiques par une injection conjointe de précurseur d'oxyde métallique sous forme liquide.
