This invention relates to the use of tenidap, presently shown as the enolic form of 5-chloro-2,3-dihydro-2-oxo-3- (2-thienylcarbonyl)-indole-1-carboxamide,and the pharma- ceutically-acceptable base salts thereof to reduce total serum cholesterol, LDL cholesterol and triglycerides in a mammal having an inflammatory arthritic condition. The methods of this invention comprise administering an effective amount of tenidap or salts thereof to a mammal.
