A polymeric alcohol, such as poly(oxy)alkylene alcohol or polyalky alcohol, is reacted at a temperature of between 230° C and 380° C in the presence of a hydrogenation/dehydrogenation catalyst to produce a polymeric carbonyl intermediate, and the polymeric carbonyl intermediate is reacted with a polyamine, such as ethylenediamine, at a temperature of between 150° C and 180° C in the presence of hydrogen and a hydrogenation catalyst to produce a polyamine adduct.
