The present invention provides a method of measuring the levels of BLyS/ APRIL heterotrimers (HT) in a biological sample, in a preferred embodiment, in serum. The diagnostic assays are useful in predicting an individual's likelihood of developing or currently suffering from an autoimmune disease, such as SLE and for methods for treating an individual clinically diagnosed with an autoimmune disease. This diagnostic test serves to predict a patient's likelihood to respond to a specific drug treatment, in particular treatment with HT antagonists, either singly or in combination with other immune suppressive drugs.
La présente invention concerne un procédé de mesure des concentrations en hétérotrimères (HT) BLyS/APRIL d'un échantillon biologique et, en particulier, dans un mode de réalisation préféré, de la concentration sérique en ces hétérotrimères. Ces dosages à usage diagnostic se révèlent utiles pour prédire la probabilité pour un individu d'être un jour touché par une maladie auto-immune, comme le lupus érythémateux aigu disséminé, ou encore d'en souffrir au moment du dosage, tout comme ils se révèlent utiles dans le cadre de procédés de traitement d'un individu chez lequel a été posé le diagnostic clinique d'une maladie auto-immune. Ce test diagnostic sert à prédire la probabilité pour un patient de répondre favorablement à un traitement médicamenteux spécifique, en particulier un traitement par des antagonistes des HT soit seuls, soit en association avec d'autres médicaments immunosuppresseurs.
