The present invention provides a novel apparatus to grow cells or microorganisms where the cultivation chamber is partially filled with liquid cultivation medium and cells. The wave induction mechanism lifts up between 5 and 50 % of the length of the culture chamber. Mixing and aeration is achieved by inducing intermittently waves from one extremity of the bioreactor to the other. As the design of the invention is very simple, it is possible to manufacture it with flexible plastic material and use the apparatus as a disposable system. Moreover, such a mixing/aeration principle minimizes cell damages usually due to shear stress and small bubbles. Since the waves induction mechanism is very simple, it allows easy and efficient scale-up from small scale to a larger one. Such a large-scale, efficient and disposable culture system can largely reduce production costs.

L'invention concerne un nouveau dispositif pour la mise en culture de cellules, dans lequel la chambre de culture est partiellement remplie d'un milieu de culture liquide et de cellules. Un mécanisme d'induction d'onde soulève entre 5 et 50 % de la longueur de la chambre de culture. Le mélange et l'aération sont mis en oeuvre par la production intermittente d'ondes, d'une extrémité du bioréacteur à l'autre. Le concept de l'invention étant très simple, on peut fabriquer le dispositif à l'aide d'une matière plastique souple et l'employer comme système jetable. De plus, le principe de mélange/aération permet de réduire les dommages généralement occasionnés aux cellules par des contraintes de cisaillement et des petites bulles. Le mécanisme d'induction d'ondes étant très simple, il peut être facilement et efficacement mis à l'échelle supérieure. Un tel système de culture à grande échelle, efficace et jetable, permet de réduire considérablement les coûts de production.
