The present invention relates to a method of activating boron nitride, comprising the following steps: iii) exposing (1) the boron nitride to a fluid enabling -OH hydroxyl radicals and/or H3O+ ions to be delivered and creating (2) B-OH bonds and/or NH2 bonds in the boron nitride; and iv) eliminating the fluid and recovering (4) the activated boron nitride.
