A moveable container for flowable material, with a discharge gate at the bottom thereof, is disclosed. The discharge gate is opened by the application of a lateral force to an opening adapter by a stationary opener. Also disclosed is a modular storage and unloading system for moveable containers which also includes an unloading area and an unloading location with a stationary opener at the unloading location which can exert the necessary lateral force to open the discharge gate of the moveable container. Also disclosed is a method of storage and transfer of flowable material using the apparatus of the present invention.
