A foldable tube has a wall with at least three elongate relatively flexible areas which form hinges that define wall segments which can be folded inwardly to bring the tube into a contracted shape and which can be folded outwardly to bring the tube in a substantially cylindrical, elliptical or polygonal shape whereby the relatively rigid wall segments of the tube between the hinges inhibit refolding of the tube into its contracted shape after expansion thereof. Preferably the tube is used as a liner within a tubular cavity, such as a well or a pipeline.
