The method consists of (i) recording the density (pi) of the gas (7) at regular time intervals during a night period using a temperature compensated pressure sensor (1) attached to the housing (3) from the outside, (ii) processing the gas density (pi) recordings by time periods obtained during the night period, each time period leading to an average value (PH) of the gas density (7), (iii) processing the average values (PH) obtained at the end of each time period to produce an average value (Pj) for the night period, (iv) determining the leakage rate ( ) of the housing (3) by difference between average densities (Pj) obtained at the end of two different night periods. The night period reduces thermal variations in the housing and increases the reliability of the leakage rate determination.

La méthode consiste à i) réaliser des enregistrements de la densité (pi) du gaz (7) à intervalles de temps réguliers pendant une période nocturne à l'aide d'un capteur (1) de pression à compensation en température fixé sur l'enveloppe (3) par l'extérieur, ii) traiter par tranches horaires les enregistrements de la densité (pi) du gaz acquis pendant la période nocturne, chaque tranche horaire conduisant à une valeur moyenne (PH) de la densité du gaz (7) iii) traiter les valeurs moyennes (PH) obtenues à l'issue de chaque tranche horaire pour donner une valeur moyenne (Pj) de la période nocturne, iv) déterminer un taux de fuite (~) de l'enveloppe (3) par différence entre densités moyennes (Pj) obtenues a l'issue de deux périodes nocturnes différentes. La période nocturne permet de réduire les variations thermiques de l'enveloppe et d'augmenter la fiabilité de la détermination du taux de fuite.
