Disclosed is a method of treating alcohol dependence in which an ethanol solution is intravenously administered. The ethanol concentration is preferably about 5 to 25 percent by volume, and more preferably about 10 to 20 percent by volume. The solution is administered over several days in progressively decreasing quantities. For those treated for the first time, it is preferred that the treatment program extend over ten days. Patients previously treated who re-lapse into drinking can usually be effectively re-treated with a program lasting for a shorter period, such as for six days.

Dans le cadre d'un procédé de traitement de la dépendance alcoolique, une solution d'éthanol est administrée par voie intraveineuse. La concentration en éthanol est de préférence d'environ 5 à 25 % du volume, principalement d'environ 10 à 20 % du volume. La solution est administrée pendant plusieurs jours, en doses diminuant progressivement. Pour les patients traités pour la première fois, il est préférable que la durée de tratiement soit de dix jours. Les patients déjà traités qui se remettent à boire peuvent habituellement être retraités efficacement par un programme plus court, de six jours par exemple.
