A bottle crate includes a body portion which defines a plurality of primary sockets. A lower portion of a bottle is receivable in each primary socket. A base portion is detachably attached to a bottom region of the body portion. The base portion defines a plurality of secondary sockets in each of which an upper portion of a bottle is receivable. Complementary attaching formations are carried by the body portion and the base portion to facilitate the detachable attaching of the base portion to the body portion.
