This invention relates to edging efficiency of a binding support type ski, taking advantage of the non linear relationship between edge to surface pressure and resistance to movement perpendicular to the ski edge. In the ski according to this invention, edging efficiency is enhanced by providing localized, longitudinally spaced edge to running surface high pressure sections, improving both edge control and ski directional stability. The ski comprises a novel ski runner wherein the longitudinal flex substantially resides in flanges adjacent to the ski runner side margins.
