2113339 9301497 PCTABS00019 Method for monitoring the formation of deposits or growth such as biofilm on surfaces which are exposed to a liquid essentially containing water, wherein the liquid particles are carried only once without being circulated through a tube section, through and along a series of sample tube pieces removably placed within the tube section, the sample tube pieces being successively removed each time after a period of flow without being replaced and being treated to determine the biofilm formation thereon. The tube section is arranged essentially vertically, the flow through it being a downward one and each time the uppermost sample tube piece is removed.
