The present invention is related to a method for treating and preventing benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and prostatic carcinoma by administering a therapeutically effective amount of a compound which binds to SHBG and antagonizes the SHBG-mediated effects of both estradiol and 5.alpha.-androstan- 3.alpha.,17.beta. diol by preventing the binding of estradiol and 5.alpha.- androstan-3.alpha.,17.beta. diol. The present invention further relates to the compounds which bind SHBG and prevent the binding of estradiol and 5.alpha.- androstan-3.alpha.,17.beta. diol as well as to a method of finding compounds which bind to SHBG and prevent the binding of estradiol

Procédé pour le traitement et la prévention de l'adénome prostatique et du cancer de la prostate par administration d'une quantité à efficacité thérapeutique d'un composé qui se lie à la globuline liant l'hormone sexuelle (SHBG) et qui présente une activité antagoniste vis-à-vis des effets, dus à la SHBG, de l'oestradiol et du 5.alpha.-androstan-3.alpha.,17.beta.-diol, en s'opposant à la liaison de l'oestradiol et du 5.alpha.-androstan-3.alpha.,17.beta.-diol.
