The present invention provides a method for identifying compounds having anti-viral activity against members of the herpes virus family. This method involves the identification of compounds which inhibit the interaction between the gene products of the herpes simplex virus-1 UL15 gene and the UL19 gene (VP5). Also provided are compounds identified by the method of the invention.

L'invention concerne une méthode de détection de composés exerçant une activité antivirale contre les membres de la famille des virus de l'herpès. La méthode consiste à détecter les composés qui inhibent l'interaction entre les produits géniques du gène UL15 et le gène UL19 (VP5) du virus de l'herpès simplex type 1. Sont également divulgués des composés détectés par la méthode de l'invention.
