The present invention provides a pharmaceutical composition for use in a dosage form for oral administration to a patient. The composition expands upon contact with gastric fluid and promotes retention of the dosage form in the patient's stomach for a prolonged period of time. The present invention further provides pharmaceutical dosage forms containing an active ingredient, and the pharmaceutical composition. The forms are adapted for immediate or controlled release of the active ingredient. The dosage forms may be used advantageously in the treatment of Parkinson's disease with levodopa and hyperactivity and attention deficit disorder with methylphenidate.
La présente invention concerne une composition pharmaceutique utilisée dans une forme posologique administrée par voie orale à un patient. Cette composition entre en expansion au contact d'un fluide gastrique et favorise la rétention de la forme posologique dans l'estomac du patient pendant une durée prolongée. La présente invention concerne également des formes posologiques pharmaceutiques contenant un ingrédient actif ainsi que cette composition pharmaceutique. Ces formes conviennent à une libération immédiate ou régulée de l'ingrédient actif. Les formes posologiques peuvent être avantageusement utilisées dans le traitement de la maladie de Parkinson avec de la lévodopa et dans le traitement de l'hyperactivité et du trouble déficitaire de l'attention avec du méthylphénidate.
