The invention concerns a process for producing a diagnostic tape unit (10) in which disposable test units (20) are applied to a rollable transport tape (18) and the transport tape (18) is wound onto an unwinding spool (14) and is connected to a take-up spool (16) such that the test units (20) can be successively made available to a user by winding on the transport tape (18). According to the invention it is proposed that the leading end of the transport tape (18) is connected to the take-up spool (16) by means of an auxiliary tape (24) and/or the trailing end of the transport tape is connected to the unwinding spool (14) by means of an auxiliary tape (24', 24").
