2089562 9203454 PCTABS00010 Compositions and methods are provided for the treatment and diagnosis of influenza A, B or C infections. In accordance with preferred embodiments, oligonucleotides and oligonucleotide analogs are provided which are specifically complementary with H2N2 viral RNAs. In other preferred embodiments, the oligonucleotides are specifically complementary with a transcription initiation site, a translation initiation site, 5'-untranslated sequences, 3'-untranslated sequences, and intron/exon junction of influenza virus mRNAs. In additional preferred embodiments, the oligonucleotides are specifically complementary with RNA sequences involved in splicing of the viral RNA, or in viral packaging. Methods of treating animals suffering from influenza virus A, B or C infections are disclosed.
