Data can be written into or read out from an RFID tag contained in a printing paper without restricting paper for printing and the position of an antenna on the printer side. A command for specifying the position of an antenna (412) of an RFID tag (500) contained in a label (41) is received, and based on the command, paper (200) for printing is conveyed so that the position at which an antenna (24) of an RFID read/write section on the printer side and the position of the antenna (412) of the RFID tag (500) are on a straight line in the direction orthogonal to a conveyance direction, and data is written into or read out from an IC chip (411) of the RFID tag (500).
