The present invention generally relates to the attenuation of vacuum blower noise using a silencer. More particularly, the present invention relates to a low-cost, reliable and efficient silencer for reducing noise levels in adsorption-based gas separation plants from the discharge of the vacuum blower or from the feed blower inlet, to about the 90 dBA level or less, at the silencer opening to the atmosphere. The silencer includes at least one reactive chamber (s) (28, 30, 32) to attenuate low frequency pulsations and at least one absorptive chamber (s) (40, 42, 44) to attenuate noise at medium to high frequency noise.

La présente invention concerne d'une manière générale l'atténuation de bruit d'une pompe centrifuge à vide à l'aide d'un amortisseur de bruit. Plus particulièrement, la présente invention concerne un amortisseur de bruit de faible coût, fiable et efficace pour réduire les niveaux de bruit dans des installations de séparation de gas sur la base de l'adsorption à partir de la décharge de la pompe centrifuge à vide ou à partir de l'entrée de la pompe d'alimentation, jusqu'à 90 dBA environ ou moins, à l'ouverture de l'amortisseur de bruit à l'atmosphère. L'amortisseur de bruit comprend au moins une chambre de réaction (28, 30, 32) permettant d'atténuer les impulsions basse fréquence et au moins une chambre d'absorption (40, 42, 44) pour atténuer le bruit au bruit de moyenne à haute fréquence.
