The present invention provides an apparatus for transporting and ditributing light. The apparatus comprises a longitudinal, hollow light conduit with a linear array of prisms arranged side-by-side to form grooves, the grooves disposed in a non-parallel orientation with respect to the longitudinal axis of the light conduit. The non-parallel orientation of the grooves causes some, or all, light which would otherwise be totally internally reflected within the light conduit to be emitted from the light conduit. The present invention provides an apparatus for transporting and distributing light. The apparatus comprises a longitudinal hollow light conduit with a linear array of prisms.
Dispositif utilisé pour transporter et distribuer de la lumière comprenant un tube longitudinal et creux pour la lumière, qui comporte un réseau de prismes positionnés les uns à côté des autres de manière à former des rainures, qui sont elles-mêmes orientées non parallèles par rapport à l'axe longitudinal du tube pour la lumière. L'orientation non parallèle des rainures a pour effet qu'une partie ou la totalité de la lumière, qui autrement serait entièrement réfléchie à l'intérieur du tube pour la lumière, sorte du tube sous forme d'une émission de lumière.
