The invention relates to the use of an organic sol of cerium in paints, particularly lacquers or varnishes to improve the durability thereof. The sol applied can more particularly be a sol comprising an ampiphilic acid system, an organic phase and particles in the form of crystallite agglomerations of which the d80, more advantageously the d90, is at most 5 nanometres, 90 % (in mass) of the agglomerations comprising 1 to 5, preferably 1 to 3 crystallites. The paints with an organic sol of cerium have an improved water content and improved mechanical properties.

L'invention concerne l'utilisation d'un sol organique de cérium dans les peintures, notamment les lasures ou les vernis, pour améliorer leur durabilité. Le sol utilisé peut être plus particulièrement un sol comprenant un système acide amphiphile, une phase organique et des particules sous forme d'agglomérats de cristallites dans le d80, avantageusement le d90, est au plus égal à 5 nanomètres, 90% (en masse) des agglomérats comportant de 1 à 5, de préférence de 1 à 3 cristallites. Les peintures incorporant un sol de cérium présentent une tenue à l'eau et une tenue mécanique qui sont améliorées.
