A self monitoring speaker system for use in a sound reproduction system wherein sound is amplified and reproduced from an input from a performer, the speaker system including a speaker enclosure which has first and second faces with at least a first speaker arranged adjacent the first face and a further speaker arranged adjacent the second face. The speakers are of the same type and have the same characteristics. The enclosure is positioned such that the first speaker directs sound to "front of house" whilst the further speaker directs sound back to the performer such that the performer can monitor sound reproduction.
