To easily disposed an exhaust valve and a catalyst in a simple manner without the need of any special place. A muffler of a generally triangular shape in side view is provided and the interior thereof is partitioned into first to third expansion chambers. A manifold pipe is connected to the second expansion chamber as a middle chamber sideways from a lower portion of the same chamber and is accommodated therein so as to face upward. A catalyst is accommodated in the interior of the manifold pipe and exhaust gas flowing out from an open end of the manifold pipe is expanded into the second expansion chamber. A short-circuiting aperture is formed in a second separator and is opened and closed with an exhaust valve installed within the adjacent third expansion chamber. The exhaust valve is normally closed type and is urged in its closing direction by spring means. When the exhaust pressure becomes a predetermined magnitude, the exhaust valve opens automatically, allowing the exhaust gas to flow out into the third expansion chamber through the short-circuiting aperture, thereby controlling the exhaust pressure.

Un tuyau collecteur est raccordé, face vers le haut, à la deuxième chambre d'expansion, soit la chambre médiane, parallèlement à une partie inférieure de la deuxième chambre d'expansion. Un catalyseur est placé à l'intérieur du tuyau collecteur et les gaz qui s'échappent d'une extrémité ouverte du tuyau collecteur prennent de l'expansion dans la deuxième chambre d'expansion. Une ouverture de court-circuit se trouvant dans un second séparateur s'ouvre et se ferme au moyen d'une soupape d'échappement installée dans la troisième chambre d'expansion, adjacente. La soupape d'échappement est normalement fermée au moyen d'un ressort. Lorsque la pression des gaz d'échappement atteint un niveau déterminé, la soupape d'échappement s'ouvre automatiquement, permettant aux gaz de s'échapper vers la troisième chambre d'expansion en passant par l'ouverture de court-circuit, réglant ainsi la pression des gaz d'échappement.
