A check-out station for supermarkets comprised of an article support platform having a top flat surface. The platform has an article receiving end and an article discharge end. A frame is provided to support the platform at a predetermined height from a floor surface. A shopping cart engaging element is provided at each end to releasably engage a shopping cart positioned at the ends with a front end of a basket of the shopping cart positioned at the article receiving and discharge ends, whereby articles in the basket nested at the article receiving end may be unloaded from a front open end thereof onto the top flat surface for processing at the counter and slid into a basket of another shopping cart nested at the discharge end
