The present invention provides a FARE (Flow Assist Ram Extension) tool utilized during refueling in a heavy water nuclear reactor so as to maintain a desired inertia force of coolant required during refueling without causing low flow in the fuel channels of a reactor vessel of the reactor, thus overcoming the-problems caused by low flow during refueling. A plurality of flow holes is formed through the sidewall of a body of the FARE tool such that intervals between the flow holes are set at optimum intervals enabling heavy water to flow in the fuel channels at a predetermined rate of flow.
