There is provided novel piperidinylethylamide derivatives having the general Formula I Image I wherein R is monosubstituted or disubstituted phenyl, thienyl or adamantyl wherein the substituent is selected from the group consisting of fluoro, methoxy and methylenedioxy; and R1 and R2 each are independently hydrogen, halogen or methoxy; or a nontoxic pharmaceutically acceptable salt and/or hydrate thereof which are useful as anxiolytic agents having a sedative component.
