- 13 - RBP File No. 4897-010 ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE In accordance with this invention there is provided a blank from which a box may be made by folding the blank. The blank has a plurality of wall panels, at least one of the wall panels defines an aperture to comprise a carrying handle. A top flap extends from that wall panel and is affixed to the panel for folding about a first fold line. The top flap comprises a reinforcing portion which is defined by a second fold line and a cut perimeter. The reinforcing portion further comprises a third fold line. The fold lines are located so that upon folding the reinforcing portion about the second fold line, the third fold line is brought into register with the first fold line and the reinforcing portion extends to the aperture. The invention also includes a closed container which has a front wall, a back wall and two ends walls. Each of the end walls comprise a top and bottom flap which form a closed top and closed bottom of the container respectively. The top flaps are separated from their respective walls by a first fold line. At least one of the ends walls has an aperture through which one or more fingers may be inserted to function as a carrying handle. The top flap of that one of the end walls includes a reinforcing portion which is defined by a second fold line and a cut perimeter. The reinforcing portion has a third fold line. The reinforcing portion is folded about the second fold line to bring the third fold line into register with the first fold line and the top flap and the reinforcing portion are then folded about the first fold line. The reinforcing portion extends to the aperture. In a preferred embodiment of the invention the top flaps of the front and back walls are glued to the top flaps of the end wall which has been reinforced.
