Provided is a method for identifying dogs as likely to be genetically normal, carriers of, or affected with progressive rod-cone degeneration comprising analyzing nucleic acids from a dog and determining the presence or absence of one or more prcd polymorphsims in the nucleic acids. Representative prcd polymorphisms characteristic of a prcd haplotype are also provided.
L'invention concerne un procédé pour identifier des chiens comme étant d'un point de vue génétique probablement normaux, porteurs de, ou touchés par une dégénérescence progressive des cônes et des bâtonnets, comprenant l'analyse d'acides nucléiques prélevés sur un chien et la détermination de la présence ou de l'absence d'un ou plusieurs polymorphismes prcd dans les acides nucléiques. Des polymorphismes prcd représentatifs caractéristiques d'un haplotype prcd sont aussi proposés.
