A broadband RF level detector for sampling a portion of the broadband RF signal from a RF CATV broadband amplifier via a directional coupler. The sampled portions of the broadband RF signals are introduced to the logarithmic broadband detector which includes an integrator circuit and a converter circuit whereby the average fatal RF energy in the band is integrated and converted into a steady, linear analog voltage. This measurement or determination of the linear voltage is applied to an integrated multi-level step comparator circuit. Voltage from the comparator is employed to activate a LED indicator display having a series of ten or more indicators, wherein each indicator illuminates proportionally as the input voltage from the comparator changes. Since the level detected is from the broadband RF signals, the voltage level represents the total power or energy delivered by the output of the CATV amplifier.
