The present invention relates, in general, to a method of enhancing the production performance of avians, by administering to a bird a heterologous protein comprised of inhibin protein, or a fragment thereof, and a carrier protein. The present invention also relates to a method of enhancing the production performance of avians, by administering to a bird a fusion gene product comprising a gene encoded for the expression of alpha-subunit avian inhibin protein, or a fragment thereof, and a gene encoded for the expression of a carrier protein. An effective amount of the heterologous protein or fusion gene product is administered to an animal such that an immunological response occurs in the animal against the heterologous protein. The present invention further relates to the above heterologous protein and fusion gene product, and to methods of producing the same.
La présente invention se rapporte généralement à un procédé destiné à accroître la production aviaire, consistant à administrer à un oiseau une protéine hétérologue contenant la protéine inhibine, ou un fragment de celle-ci, et une protéine porteuse. L'invention concerne également un procédé destiné à accroître la production aviaire, consistant à administrer à un oiseau un produit génique de fusion comprenant un gène dans lequel a été codée l'expression de la sous-unité alpha de la protéine inhibine aviaire, ou un fragment de celle-ci, et un gène dans lequel a été codée l'expression d'une protéine porteuse. Une dose efficace de la protéine hétérologue ou du produit génique de fusion est administrée à un animal, de telle façon qu'un réponse immunologique se produit dans l'animal contre la protéine hétérologue. La présente invention concerne en outre la protéine hétérologue et le produit génique de fusion précités, ainsi que leurs procédés de production.
