2084064 9200372 PCTABS00010 The present invention provides a recombinant pigeon pox virus synthetically modified by the presence, in a non-essential region of the pigeon pox genome, of DNA not naturally occurring in pigeon pox virus. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, pigeon pox virus is modified by at least a portion of the Newcastle Disease virus F gene wherein the F gene is inserted within the thymidine kinase locus in the pigeon pox genome.
