A silica-based water-spreading coating having surfaces of silica particles coated with a metal oxide. The metal comprises aluminum, gallium, germanium, tin, indium, arsenic, antimony or vanadium. The water-spreading coating may be applied to a retroreflective sheeting on a traffic sign.

Revêtement favorisant la dispersion de l'eau, doté de surfaces de particules de dioxyde de silicium recouvertes d'un oxyde métallique. Le métal utilisé est composé d'aluminium, de gallium, de germanium, d'étain, d'indium, d'arsenic, d'antimoine ou de vanadium.
