A method of stabilizing a shattered window pane (14) includes the steps of applying a layer or body of unifying material (20) to an exterior surface and/or an interior surface of the shattered window pane (14), bonding the layer of unifying material (20) to the window pane (14) to form a cohesive mass therewith, and leaving the cohesive mass in place for a desired length of time to stabilize the window pane (14). The cohesive mass may be removed from the window frame (16) as one or more integral and unitary pieces. A patch may be used with the unifying material to cover holew in window pane (14).
