Disclosed is a device and a method for producing a zig-zag folded filter element from a web of material (18), which is supplied through a feeding device to a die stamping unit (10). To define the folding line, the die stamping unit is fitted with an anvil roll (21) and a stamping die (24), said die stamping unit being ultrasound-activated and thereby improving the stamping operation.
