A method of making a wet pressed paper web includes providing an aqueous dispersion of papermaking fibers, a foraminous forming member, a first dewatering felt layer, a second dewatering felt layer, a compression nip having a machine direction length of at least 3.0 inches wherein the compression nip comprises convex and concave opposed compression surfaces, and an imprinting member having a web contacting face comprising a web imprinting surface and a deflection conduit portion. An embryonic web with first and second faces, of the papermaking fibers is formed on the foraminous forming fiber and to deflect a portion of the papermaking fibres into deflection conduits in the imprinting member. The web and the imprinting member are then passed between first and second dewatering felts in a compression nip to further deflect the papermaking fibers into the deflection conduits and to remove water from both sides of the web.

L'invention concerne un procédé de fabrication d'une bande de papier en pressage humide. Une bande initiale (120A) de fibres pour papier est constituée sur un élément de formage foraminé (11) et transférée vers un élément d'impression (219) où une partie des fibres de la bande initiale sont orientées dans des conduits de déflexion propres à cet élément. La bande (120A) et l'élément d'impression (219) sont ensuite pincés entre les premiers (320) et seconds (360) feutres d'essorage d'un espace de compression (300) par rouleau pour poursuivre la déviation des fibres à papier dans les conduits de déflexion de l'élément d'impression et pour éliminer l'eau des deux côtés de la bande. L'espace de compression (300) s'étend en longueur et peut comprendre des surfaces de pression convexes et concaves opposées.
