A nonwoven fabric (40) from spun fibers (20) wherein the density of the spun fibers in the fabric varies between strips of relatively high density and strips of relatively low density. The strips extend along the length of the fabric in the machine direction (14) in an alternating pattern, with the high density stops separated from each other by low density strips. The alternating high density and low density strips provide the fabric with a higher percent elongation in the cross direction (12) than in the machine direction.
L'invention concerne un tissu non tissé (40) constitué de fibres filées (20) dont la densité dans le tissu varie entre des bandes de densité relativement élevée et des bandes de densité relativement faible. Les bandes s'étendent sur la longueur du tissu dans le sens machine selon un motif alternant, les bandes de densité élevée étant séparées les unes des autres par les bandes de faible densité. Les bandes alternantes de densité élevée ou faible fournissent au tissu un pourcentage d'élongation plus élevé dans le sens travers (12) que dans le sens machine.
