2115153 9303812 PCTABS00020 The specification describes a method of dewatering mineral slurries especially slurries of a fine coal. The method involves adding an anionic flocculant to the slurry and subsequently adding a dewatering aid to the slurry at or just prior to the formation of a filter cake during a filtration step. The specification also discloses that overloading with an anionic flocculant can be avoided if a dewatering aid is used in combination with the flocculant.
