A vest with ballistic plate height adjustment. A vest body of flexible material is provided. The vest body has an upper shoulder engaging end and a lower waist covering end, an interior surface and an exterior surface. A ballistic plate containment sleeve is secured to the interior surface of the vest body in a substantially vertical orientation. The sleeve has an upper end and a lower end. A loop-form bottom panel is provided having a fixed end and a free end. The fixed end is secured to the interior surface of the vest body in a substantially horizontal orientation wherein the bottom panel hangs down forming a loop underlying the lower end of the sleeve. The free end is secured in one of several attachment positions to the sleeve, wherein the attachment position of the free end of the bottom panel to the sleeve determines the depth of the loop.
