The locking device locks a throttle in a closed position on a motorized vehicle of the type having the throttle pivotally mounted to a handlebar and having a free end biased away from the handlebar but adapted to be pivoted toward the handlebar by squeezing the free end and the handlebar with resulting opening of the throttle. The locking device includes a block which contacts a wall of the handlebar and a jamming member adapted to be removably received in the space between the throttle and the handlebar. When the jamming member is in place it prevents the free end of the throttle from pivoting toward the handlebar. A clamping element also contacts the wall of the handlebar and has a pair of rods which slide in openings formed in the block. A lock is mounted within the block for holding the rods stationary in the openings and thereby preventing them from sliding in order to secure the handlebar between the clamping element and block. The jamming member is thus secured in the space between the throttle and the handlebar thereby locking the throttle in the closed position.
