A torque motor includes a rotor having a plurality of magnets arranged along an inner surface. A stator is mounted within the rotor, and the rotor and stator rotate relative to each other. The stator includes a plurality of pole shoes which when magnetized cause the rotation of the rotor relative to the stator and the motor generates torque. A differential exists between the number of magnets and the number of stator shoes. With this structure, maximum torque is obtained over a large angle of rotation.
