A method of making an end termination on a reclosable fastener comprises: providing a reclosable fastener including first and second tracks with first and second profiles, said first track having an end portion and said second track having an end portion joined to the end portion of the first track, said first and second profiles being releasably engageable to each other; slidably mounting a slider for movement between open and closed positions to said fastener, the slider having a separating finger having a front surface facing the joined end portions of the first and seconds tracks, opposing sides, and a back surface; and forming an end termination at the joined end portions, the end termination shaped to receive the separating finger, the end termination configured to contract behind at least a portion of the back surface of the separating finger when received by the end termination.
