Antisense oligonucleotides are provided which are complementary to and hybridizable with at least a portion of HCV RNA and which are capable of inhibiting the function of the HCV RNA. These oligonucleotides can be administered to inhibit the activity of Hepatitis C virus in vivo or in vitro. These compounds can be used either prophylactically or therapeutically to reduce the severity of diseases associated with Hepatitis C virus, and for diagnosis and detection of HCV and HCV-associated diseases. Methods of using these compounds are also disclosed.
L'invention concerne des oligonucléotides antisens complémentaires d'au moins une partie de l'ARN du virus de l'hépatite C (HCV) et pouvant s'hybrider avec au moins une partie de l'ARN du HCV, ces oligonucléotides étant par ailleurs capables d'inhiber la fonction de l'ARN du HCV. Ces oligonucléotides peuvent être administrés afin d'inhiber l'activité du virus de l'hépatite C in vivo ou in vitro. Ces composés, qui peuvent en outre être utilisés de manière prophylactique ou thérapeutique afin d'atténuer les effets des maladies liées au virus de l'hépatite C, peuvent par ailleurs permettre de diagnostiquer et de détecter les maladies dues au HCV ainsi que les maladies liées au HCV. L'invention concerne également des procédés d'utilisation de ces composés.
