A bumper system (20) for vehicles includes a tubular beam (21) having front (22), top (23), bottom (24), and rear (25) walls, and further having open tubular ends. The bumper system (20) further includes a pair of mounting brackets (27) each having a V-shaped mounting section (28) attached to the rear wall (25) of the open tubular ends (26) and having an integral corner- forming section (29) extending from the mounting section (28) laterally around the associated ends (26) and forwardly to a location where the corner-forming section (29) attaches to the front wall (22) of the one end (26). The corner- forming section (29) includes a resilient portion (44) shaped to flex and absorb energy upon corner impact, and further is adapted to transfer energy directly to the vehicle frame, thus providing efficient and effective energy absorption upon corner impact.

L'invention concerne un système de pare-chocs pour véhicules comprenant une poutre tubulaire présentant des parois avant, supérieure, inférieure et arrière, ainsi que des extrémités tubulaires ouvertes. Le système de pare-chocs comprend également deux supports de fixation présentant individuellement une section de fixation en forme de V fixée sur la paroi arrière des extrémités tubulaires ouvertes et possédant une section monobloc formant un coin s'étendant à partir de la section de fixation de manière latérale autour des extrémités associées et en avant vers un emplacement où la section formant un coin se fixe sur la paroi avant de l'extrémité. La section formant un coin comprend une partie élastique façonnée de manière à fléchir et absorber de l'énergie au moment d'un choc sur le coin et elle est conçue pour transférer de l'énergie directement au cadre du véhicule, permettant ainsi d'absorber de l'énergie de manière efficace au moment d'un choc sur le coin.
