A diluent obtained by a) contacting a crude feed with hydrogen and one or more catalysts to produce a crude product; wherein at least one of the catalysts comprises one or more metals from Column 6 of the Periodic Table and/or one or more compounds of one or more metals from Columns 6 of the Periodic Table; and wherein contacting conditions are controlled at a partial pressure of hydrogen of least 3 MPa and a temperature of least 200 °C; b) separating the crude product into two or more portions, c) producing a diluent from at least part of at least one portion obtained in step b). Methods of preparing a diluted hydrocarbon composition using such diluent and diluted hydrocarbon compositions so obtained.

Linvention concerne un diluant, obtenu par a) mise en contact dune alimentation brute avec de lhydrogène et un ou plusieurs catalyseurs pour produire un produit brut; au moins lun des catalyseurs comprenant un ou plusieurs métaux de la colonne 6 du Tableau Périodique et/ou un ou plusieurs composés dun ou de plusieurs métaux de la colonne 6 du Tableau Périodique; et les conditions de mise en contact étant contrôlées à une pression partielle dhydrogène dau moins 3 MPa et une température dau moins 200°C, b) séparation du produit brut en deux parties ou plus, c) production dun diluant à partir dau moins une fraction dau moins une partie obtenue à létape b). Linvention concerne également des procédés de préparation dune composition diluée dhydrocarbures à laide dun tel diluant et les compositions diluées dhydrocarbures ainsi obtenues.
