This invention is directed to the repair of cast composite vehicle wheel hubs used specifically on trucks. Such hubs typically have a plurality of spokes extending from a boss with webs extending between the spokes. The hubs are cast of composite metal alloy material which cannot be repaired by conventional welding methods due to the metallurgical make-up of the hubs. Damaged outer spoke portions are repaired by fitting an annular band by removing a portion of each outer spoke surface. The band is secured to the spokes by using an intermediate bracket of weldable material secured by mechanical fasteners to the spokes of the hub.
La présente invention a pour objet une méthode pour la réparation de moyeux de roue en alliage coulé utilisés spécifiquement sur les camions. Les moyeux en question sont du type comportant une pluralité de rayons émanant d'une partie centrale, lesquels sont partiellement reliés par des palmures de renfort. Les moyeux en question, qui sont fabriqués d'un alliage de métaux coulé, ne peuvent être réparés en recourant aux méthodes de soudage conventionnelles du fait de leur composition métallurgique. La méthode visée par les présentes fait appel à une bande annulaire qui est ajustée sur le rayon endommagé après enlèvement d'une partie de matière sur chacune des surfaces extérieures des rayons du moyeu. La bande est fixée aux rayons du moyeu au moyen d'un support intermédiaire fabriqué d'un matériau soudable, lequel est fixé aux rayons du moyeu à l'aide d'organes de fixation mécanique.
